What year motor do I have?

OK, totally stupid subject line, but here's the deal, and the reason I've joined this forum:

This past summer I bought a 1965 Buick GS. It does not have the original 401 nailhead in it. Rather, the previous owner put what he said is an L98 out of a totaled 1992 Corvette. I have no doubt the motor is from a late 80's/early 90's 'Vette, but have reason to doubt that it's from a 92.

So here's the question: what's the easiest way - if there is one - to accurately age date a Corvette motor of this approximate vintage? I can post pics, if that would help.
