Hi, I have a 1971 350/270 convertible (130K miles) that I bought in 1976 when I lived in CT. I've done most of the mechanical work on it over the years. The only original parts are the transmission (4 speed) and power steering pump. Everything else has been replaced (at least once) or rebuilt.
I have a mystifying problem currently. Have a chirping sound at idle and higher RPM's while driving coming from the area of the driver side/rear of the engine compartment. Let me say what it's not: not the belts slipping, not water pump, not the alternator, not the donut and reducer in the exhaust manifold/pipe connection, not vacuum related or PCV system, not throw-out bearing. It seems to be getting louder over time but is quite noticeable at idle (but will go away at slightly higher RPM's for a while, but I can hear it while driving) Any ideas? Thanks
