A6 Transmission Noise

2009 Z51 Corvette w/A6 Transmission and currently 25,000 miles. Car goes in the shop this week for a transmission noise. Any thoughts on this problem:

First drive in the morning is the worst. A binding/grinding noise lasts for about one second at each shift point initially. After that, it will make the grinding noise most often when driving at a constant speed of 55MPH with very light application of throttle. However, there are times when the noise will occur at constant speeds below 55 MPH with very light application of throttle, i.e. constant 45 MPH. For some reason the shift point between 5th and 6th gears is when it occurs most often. The sound is almost always heard when the car is going in a straight line and only rarely around turns. The sound dissipates after about 10 minutes of driving and is generally not heard any more. If the car sits for just a few hours it will make the same noise again, but not to the same extent or for as long.
