327/365 hp high performance engine mods

First post here so hope to get some help. I own a 64 coupe with NOM. Recently I purchased an originally 64 over the counter replacement engine. It is a 365 high performance engine with an unstamped block. It has about 3000 miles on it (long story) and I plan to install it on the 64. I am being told that the 11 to 1 compression ratio, the solid lifter cam and the original valve seats will create problems for me with todays pump fuel. I hate to change anything because the engine is as shipped from the factory and as they say, they are only original once. I feel a lot of the value of the engine is in the fact that it is untouched. Is there anyone out there that is running an original setup like this and if so, how does it run? Also, what minor or major changes can I make to make this engine more user friendly?
thanks for the help
