small block heads and stock accessories

I wanted to get more HP out of my 1976 180hp vette. I was thinking about Hooker headers (2456-1HKR) mated to Hooker rear system(16521HKR)
I want to use my intake and carb and keep my factory air and Alt. and be able to close my hood. I was looking at rebuilding a set of 186 cast iron heads(64cc, 1.96 and 1.5 valves). I was going to use 1.6 rockers. But the pricing is almost as much as getting aluminum new ones. I am wondering which ones to pick.Or maybe just get a mild casm and get a torque convertor witn 2200 or 2400 stall. I want to cruise in my vette but want some punch of the line. Any help would be apprieciated
Thx

If you want REAL performance swap in A TH700R4 and a set of 3.73's to get fantastic off-the-line performance and still retain decent fuel mileage.
