Hi guys, does anybody know how to find out what engine came with my 1969 vette. It corrently have a LS7 454. Is there a way to get that info from the VIN #. Thanks.
Hi Deej22: there were several options in 1969. It's relatively easy to determine if the car was a big block or small block car by checking for a rear sway bar; some body mods (like extra ventilation ion the from below the radiator) and how the half shafts are connected etc. There are some experts that can document this better than I. In the big block arena there were 390 and 400 hp; 425; 430 and 435 versions as well as very rare aluminum combos. The small block 350's also came in several flavors. starting with 300hp and going up. Most corvette forum sites can provide added info on engine options. Unfortunately, most of the stuff can be added or modded, so it depends on the condition of the car and how obvious the "messing" with it was. Probably Google 1969 corvette engine and you will get a lot of info...good luck and regards...joe
