Help with my first C3 purchase

I'm starting the research process of purchasing my first C3 corvette. I'm very new to this but have been learning a lot from the many resources available, particularly this forum.
There are several 1980 cars that I'm interested in but would like some support in inspecting the cars. I also want to start making some personal connections with highly regarded folks who might help with upgrades and modification.
I'm in Westchester County, just north of New York City.

I would appreciate any input you might have.

Do you want to buy a new car or used? I now want to buy an old car from my new neighbor and I'm not sure of this decision, because I worry about not being able to properly inspect it and maybe spending too much money on repairs.

When I bought a used car in Queensland, I used a special checker that sends you an SMS and email with the history of the car, here you can read what information about the car you can get. I think it's very important to know that the owner didn't hide from you cases of accidents in which the car was involved and to be sure that you are buying a legal car that the police aren't looking for. I believe that this is important information that can help you buy a used car and not get into trouble. I know several cases when buyers of a used car fell into scam and were forced to pay back a loan for a car that the previous owner took or had to return the car to the real owner of the car because it was stolen. I advise you to use revs check in order to be sure that you are making the right choice.
