Engine Squeal above 5500RPM
Member but have not been on Forum for a long time. Sorry if I've missed a thread on this topic. I looked.
Problem: Above 5500 RPM my 2004 C5 Z06 (42k miles, stock except for harmonic balancer and oil cooler) emits a loud, metallic squealing noise from engine. Could be belt but it sounds more like metal to metal, and it seems to do it at steady state (ie. constant RPM) as well as under acceleration. Alternator spins freely without belt. Have not been able to get to A/C compressor yet (and I don't rev the engine that high with a/c engaged). Any ideas?
