Baby Seat Question / Opinions
Hey everyone, new guy here. I did a quick search for Baby Seat and got nothing, so I don't roast me if you are tired of this.
I have done a few searches on the internet and it seems for the most part that people (mainly women) are against using a baby seat in a Corvette. Is there any reason why you should not? I mean is this a bad judgment call on my part?
Last time I checked, Corvette was one of very few cars that is not only superior in speed but safety as well. But what fool would be racing with a baby to begin with? I hear all these "people" talk about they would take the safer "Explorer or Expedition" or a slew of other vehicles that have ZERO safety value! Personally I consider the Vette better than a Cobalt.
The fact is, I have a 3/4 Chevy work truck, that is dirty, has chemicals, grease and other contaminants that I would rather not expose a baby to. The wife has a Chevy Cobalt, and I have the Vette. That's what we have until we can move her up to a Tahoe. I see people all over Dallas in cars I didn't think would pass inspection with kids not in baby seats!
So a Corvette is a car no different from any other, besides the ability to run like a scalded cat. So does that make me a bad parent or look bad if I use the car to go about my daily business? The wife is on board with using the "toy" (as she calls it) and taking the baby out. OK, so we won't go topless for the first couple of years. And this is going to be his car some day, might as well start teaching safety and common sense early on eh?
I saw one poster on another site who said he had no problem with it but he had to manually install a Airbag deactivation switch before he would do it. I have a '01 and my switch is in the glove box?? And it seems (while I am unable to find the post) that someone posted Corvettes have the "D" rings in the seats to anchor car seats? This I have not checked for yet. Anyone know this to be true?
So Mom's, Dad's, Parents help out a future Dad, let me hear your thoughts and ideas, because last thing I want is to put a baby at some unknown or foreseen harm.
