Has anyone had problems or heard a strange noise coming from the rear end on 06/07 Z06?

Yes I Had That Same Problem And Took It In. What They Did Was Change The Differential Oil. And The Noise Is Gone

seems to be the most common problem that I see with the car when they come in for service.

Your problem, T Hard, is the reason I just joined this forum. I have an '06 C6 with 10,000 miles on it and have the same problem. They changed the oil a month ago and told me I had to drive it a couple hundred miles to get the oil worked into the differential clutches, etc.? I'm blond, so they must have thought I'd actually believe that! I did as told by the mechanic and the noise got worse.......a lot worse. It went from a gentle grinding sound to popping clutches. It's in the shop now getting bearings and clutches replaced as I write this.

What other issues are popping up with my year Vette that I should know about? Is it worth buying the extended warranty or is it a waste of $?

sorry for coming in to this post but just wanna have some advice.
Was told I need a new "cluster", part not in stock, ordered and replaced then trip odometer would not work. New cluster ordered and replaced, trip odometer would not work. Made another appt, dealership decided they just needed to "reprogram" cluster. Now, when I take my key out the message center displays a red battery and the odometer stay on with no keys in the vehicle. Now, they said that this would not have anything to do with replacing cluster... ADVICE?

First off....is this the dealer or an independent shop working on your ride? If your Vette is a 2006 the battery may be on the way out. I have heard of some weird 'stuff' happening. Mine was 3 yrs old when it went. I hear Delco batteries aren't that great. Hopefully it's still under warranty? Mine was and they covered it.

Also, a coworker of mine also has a '06 with about 12k miles and his dif is starting to act up too. Hasn't had them change the oil yet. No bueno!!

PS - My rear end is fine after having clutches replaced, yeah!

Sorry to hear about your problem dude, i haven't experienced issues like that with my vette. If its all about the battery well that one is not a problem if it is still covered by warranty.
