Hi everyone I am new to the Vette thing. I just bought my 1989 Vette last weekend. Its a coupe with the glass top and I have put about 1500 miles on it so far. It's Black and needs a little TLC. Like the seats are shot like most Vettes that year are ether cracked and worn out or they have been redone. Tires are good and has some upgrades (chip, K&N catback ACCEL) and runs pretty good. It has Auto A/C and so on. I will be redoing the seats (leather) this winter. This week end I will repaint the mirror covers and at a later date the top of the rear panel above the tailights the panel on the front top of bumper,(a little faded but not bad) other that that the paint is great.
I have been a racer since I was a young boy and now I'm an old man. My Dad (and I) helped a guy back in 1959 with his 356 Porsche. by 1965 till 1968 I was crewing for a SCCA F modifyed (later B sportsracing) racing team and the crew chief. Then in 1973 after not racing for 5 years I started helping a friend with his dirt car. It wasn't a very good car but we had a lot of fun and I learned a lot about dirt cars. I rebuilt the first car and it work better, then I built a new car and it was a lot faster. By 1977 I was on a supermodifyed team and by 1980 I was building cars for this team and was the crew chief and those cars were some of the fastest cars at San Jose speedway. Also in 1980 and 81 I was the jackman for a Weston West team when they raced up at Sears point raceway. In 1988 I retired from racing I was burned out but still love racing. Now I do oil paintings of cars Classics Racing and Hotrods. I also do other subjects like portraits of people and pets, wild life and landscapes but racing is still my first love next to my wife. to check out some of my art work go to www.rapier-art.com.
