I just got a 68 TRI Power that has been rewired and rebuilt. It is difficult to start and when I press accelerator it screeches. Thinking it is a belt or the starter. The only other issue on the car is the Speedometer looks to top out at 35.

I would try the belt first,but a good friend of mine has a 69,427 and it had a cluch fan that sometimes squeeled as well.Also if the car has been played with some people have put the shallow V belt not the deep V belt and that too will cause a squeel as the belt wears and the tension reduces.Best of luck.
