I recently got a good deal on an 84 vette targa top. It has the crossfire injection, which I've heard isn't to good. Should I switch it over to tuneport? What other issues are related with this year model?

I had hoped that someone more knowledgeable about this topic than I would respond, but since no one has, let me give it a shot.

I don't think it is as simple as it sounds to switch Crossfire over to TPI. There are many electronics involved that would come into play. I am not saying it is impossible, but it would be (IMHO) a lot more than just a bolt on. The guys that I have heard who have eliminated Cross-Fire Injection, have done it by eliminating the electronics and just going with a carburator. Even this is very complicated, because of the effect on other stuff such as gauges and the like.

Question: Is the Cross-Fire working well? IF so you may just want to learn to live with it. If not, you might be better off to sell the car and find a latter model (C4s are dirt cheap right now, I know I own one) rather than to try the conversion.

Anyway, I hope this helps, sorry I am not more of an expert.

Some interesting thoughts about the crossfire. Im seriously considering the X-Ram manifold and throttle bodies. I also think there is some misinformation about the Crossfire. Fuel pressure is a major player and an 85 fuel pump can solve some of the annoyances of the CF.

You may have seen these but if you havent it makes me think twice about the options. I haven't made up my mind yet but if I can pic up an extra 50hp and stay with the crossfire set up seems to me it might be the way to go.
