hello I am new to corvetteforum and would love some help with a strange air conditioning problem. I have an 84 and the only way the compressor will kick on is if I jumper wire it to the battery. Also, it is not cooling. However, when I use a gauge it shows red for freon. We recently purchased the vehicle and theprevious owner said two gaskets were missing on the compressor.

Any help figuring out this problem would be greatly appreciated. I am from Texas and days are getting hotter and need some cool air.
