1998 everything was fine when parked in garage last week. went out today & cannot get out of park! with /wo engine running. pulled fuse cover in pass compt but cannot ID fuse 21 from schem in cover. cannot hear any noise when applying break & pushing down on shift button,(auto tranny). HELP PLEASE,

Had the same problem.
Was going to replace park solenoid. Not necessary.
Takes a while to remove center console and the bottom of the shifter boot.
Take your time especially removing the plastic housing under the leather boot under the shift knob. Not necessary to remove boot at shifter assembly. The solenoid is in the rear of the shifter assembly. It has a single electric terminal and all you need to do is remove it. I always have my foot on the brake so the car isn't going anwhere when you shift out of park.
Don't mess with the ignition switch interlock cable which prevents you from removing the key except in park.
Did this several years on my 98 C5 A4 and no problems since.
