I am the proud new owner of a 1978 vette- only 8000 miles when I bought it last month. I have some simple questions.

1. Waxing the car- I have bought the mothers wax- but the corvette dealer told me to fight my urge to wax the car- as it does damage to the finish. He suggested one time a year. Any help/ pointers on exterior treatment would be appreciated.

2. Climate control storage. I have heard both sides of the argument- for and against climate control- What are your thoughts/ experiences. I live in Pittsburgh- so the winters are tough.

I welcome any and all opinions from experienced Corvette owners. I feel like I have purchased a vehicle to not only enjoy, but preserve.

1) Any good quality non-abrasive carnuba type wax can be used on your car. Once a year may be enough depending on if you drive it in the rain, how often you wash it etc. You can wax as much as you like, but you may start to get a high build-up of wax at which point you would need to give it a good wash and re-wax.

2) I've had my car in a heated storage facility and I loved it. Now it is in it's own garage that I built just for it. There is a furnace but I only run it when I go out there to work, so basically it's unheated. I'm in CT so winters here can be pretty bad too. Either way disconnect the battery (or use a Battery Tender), and use a good fuel stabilizer like Star-tron.
