my beloved 1986 MR2 (http://www.marcmedina.com/MR2.html).

I like the look of the C4, especially the 89 backend. I also like the non-airbag wheel on the pre-90 cars. I'm surprised though to see how cheap ZR1's can be had for - under $20K. I'm wondering if they have turned out to be difficult to maintain over the years, prone to breakage, etc.

I'd also be happy with an L98 car - 6 speed of course. I just can't see buying a Corvette with an automatic - not for my driving style. I'd eventually replace the L98 with a custom built engine, so it would be a much cheaper starting point. On the other hand, the ZR1 would be just fine the way it is.

Any input would be great.

Thanks,
Marc

People I've met in the local club who own ZR-1s love them--but the unique engine combo can sometimes make it difficult to find certain engine parts/sensors etc. Finding someone who knows and can work on them isn't always easy either. But as far as performance ,they weren't nicknamed "King of the Hill" for nothing:D

On the otherhand L98s and LT1s were plentiful in comparison as are most replacement parts. Aftermarket performance parts are also readily available which these engines respond very well to IMO.
