Within a few years, GM will release the next generation Corvette, commonly called C7.
Meaning the 7th generation of Corvette.

As usual, rumors abound. One thing for sure, Chevrolet will continue to improve and maintain tradtion with the C7.

What changes/imporvements/suggestions do you have for the C7?

Zippy :) :)

I've heard a rumor of a mid-engine C7, but I just can't see this being true!

Yes, I've heard the same thing, but only on the net. Not from anyone in the know.
GM does an outstanding job of keeping their secrets secret....we'll see.

I didn't really think they were going to do the glass head lights either, but now they've grown on me :)

Every time a new Corvette is being developed the mid-engine rumor surfaces.
Read past issues of Road and Track and you'll see.

One would imagine GM is in no mood to drop that kind of investment and development cash in their current financial condition.

I'd like to see the build quality improve, more colors. and a mild design modifcation.

I thought they were on hold for now. I'd be 2015 is closer to a release date than a couple of years.

I like to see it include paddle shifting, and launch control and Magna ride as an option for Z06 plus better seats.

When I was in Carlisle Penn. for the corvette show I viewed a number of suppliers with mid-engine setups using new corvette engines. It would not be very difficult for GM to create a mid-engine car,but with the state of the company I donot see it in the near future,it would be very risky. At the same time their is no real challenge to the present vette, adding a few modifications year to year will keep the short term byers happy and give time for GM to restructure. As for price we can only hope it goes down like the price of gas,but that is a dream like the mid-engine.

It will be inetersting to see how teh entire auto industry react to the global finnacial melt down. The market of the super car in the 75 to 150k range has to be affected by this big time. if you were worth 3- 5 million and you lost 60% of your networth and you still have the same bills, it's gotta put the purchase of that new sports car on hold. So how many companies are out there investing in new technology for new sports cars, since sports cars are essentially toys and not a necessity.

Given the present economic situation of GM, I do not see feasible, and necessary, to make a mid-engine, they can good lap times with a front engine (ZR1).
I would conform with a small (or not :D) increase of power and a little reduction of fuel consumption.

That what GM should do (and have to do if they want sell more in Europe) with the next C7 is improve the quality of the interior. If they don't want to increase the price they should give in option a luxury pack.
Good leather, authentic aluminum (non plastic) or carbon fiber....

Another suggestion that I forgot is offer an optional seat with more subjection because Corvette has one of the cars that generate more lateral force and you need a bracket seat if you want go on the track.

I'd like to see a more revolutionary exterior...something like the centennial corvette, but not with that car's butt-ugly rear end. Maybe toned down a little, too. But PLEASE, no more of this "evolutionary" design crap (C5, C5.5...er, C6).

Introduce an "entry-level" car...something around $40K with less bells & whistles to make the car more affordable to us younger guys.

I have heard that due to the economy that GM does not plan a new Vette for 2010.
